Join the Etsy New York team on April 29, 2014 at the Etsy Labs in Dumbo, NY (Brooklyn) for a workshop on the basics of blogging hosted by Etsy New York Team Member Rekha Krishnamurthi of DivineNYCo


Blogging Basics
In this workshop, you’ll learn practical steps to build a blog for your business and how to strategically leverage your blog into a key-branding channel.

Discover how to increase readership, subscriptions and engagement with target followers and make blogging the hub of your social media master plan.

Host Rekha Krishnamurthi (ETSY shop:  DivineNYCo) will share with you her tips on how to best leverage your time to create an effective blogging strategy.

Topics that will be covered:
·      Defining a clear goal for your blog
·      How to develop compelling content and a blog editorial calendar
·      Integrating your blog content with social media
·      Blogging and SEO
·      Posting frequency
·      Time management

This workshop is free to all EtsyNY teamies.  All non-members who are interested in attending can purchase tickets ($5) on Eventbrite. Check in will occur at the door, so please have your tickets and ID available. The door will close at 6:30pm.

We are a very, very busy group of artisans. Visit Crafts in Chelsea and combine a leisurely stroll down 21st Street with a quick boat ride to Governors Island. There, at the Better Than Jam shop in Nolan Park, you can meet Melissa of Prairiefunk and make these cool bracelets with her. Once you're done, take a picture and share it with us here, on instagram (#etsynyteam), twitter, or facebook. We'd love to see what you made.

Free Community Shop Critique Workshop at Etsy 4/30 at 6 pm

Like brick and mortar shop owners, Etsians are always working on their virtual store fronts to look their best. To help you with that endeavor, the Etsy NY Street Team is presenting a shop critique workshop hosted by Rebecca Fogle our Director of Events and the owner of Ever + Ever.

Using Etsy's recently released shop critique worksheet the workshop will cover:

  • Photography--Polish your shop with great photography
  • Titles and Tags--Get found with titles and tags 
  • Branding--Create a cohesive brand 
  • Shop Policies--Set successful shipping, handling policies 
  • Pricing--Price to sell

The workshop will include small group, in-person, peer shop critiques and attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops or tablets to participate and show off their store fronts.

Craft Workshops at Summer Space

Come and get your craft on with the Etsy NY Street Team! This weekend and next our team members Alison and Elena will be leading craft demonstrations at our tent on Montague Street in Brooklyn between Henry and Hicks Streets, in front of the Super Cuts store.

On Sunday September 9th from 12 to 4 p.m. Alison of Koto Designs will demonstrate how to weave yarn to make God's Eye. This project is suitable for all ages.

Hand-Crocheted Wire Necklace by Simply Nu

Also this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Elena of Simply Nu will show you how to crochet with wire. This project is suitable for ages 15 and up.

Free Sock Monkey Workshop

On Saturday, March 28, Etsy labs will once again partner with Fresh Art to teach people how to make sock monkeys while then taking those and selling them to benefit Fresh Art's programs to help special needs artists throughout New York.
